Windsor Duck Tours are go!

windsor-ducks-logoFurther to the recent post about the potential Windsor duck tours operation, I’ve received an email from Graham Lumley (MD of the company) who says:

“I have just seen your web site and news page. I am the MD of Windsor Duck Tours and just to say it is all true we now have a licence to operate in Windsor and hope to open in July 2013. More News soon.”

So by my reckoning that got to be the newest duck tour in the UK! I’ll keep you posted on further developments.

Windsor Duck Tour service resurfaces

windsor-ducks-logoSuggestions that Windsor might be the latest place in the UK to offer a duck tour have resurfaced.

The Windsor Observer reports that plans for a duck tour service are under discussion. Paul Roach, Windsor and Eton town manager, said: “We are in discussions with an operator to try to bring the duck tours to Windsor. It’s not signed, sealed and delivered, but I am hopeful about it”.

In July last year the Windsor Express also reported upon plans a for a duck tour operation. It’s not clear if the people behind that proposal are the same as those proposing the current one. Any service would of course require planning permission.

Feel free to leave a comment if you have anything to add.

Liverpool duck tours (details) company Yellow Duck Marine are running a drawing competition for children of all ages via their facebook page. There are three age categories; 0-3, 4-11 and 12-15 and all that you have to do is draw a picture of one of their Yellow Ducks outside of a famous Liverpool landmark. Obvious places to choose from include the Albert Dock, Pier Head and the Liver Building. Simply upload your picture to their Facebook page to win some great prizes (although they don’t seem to say what they might be!).

Closing date is 2nd September, 2012.

Queen take rides in Liverpool Duck Tour

Queen duck tour

The Queen enjoyed a trip on a duck tour today as she visited Liverpool.

Riding in one of the Yellow Duck Marine vehicles Her Majesty enjoyed some of the sights of Liverpool including the Grade 1 Listed Albert Dock. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh enjoyed a shortened 30 minute tour before taking lunch at the Maritime Museum.

Jerry Goldman, managing director of the Yellow Duckmarine told the Liverpool Echo in advance of the tour:

“The Queen will be doing a short tour round the dock and the crowds will have a great opportunity to see her. We’ve already decided who the driver will be and picked a crew member to provide the live commentary. Normally these will lead the tourists in a rendition of the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine, but I’m not sure we’ll be doing that with the Queen.”
